Ismail Mesut Sezgin holds a Doctorate from the Institute for Spirituality, Religion and Public Life at Leeds Beckett University. His thesis is titled Moral Responsibility in Contemporary Islam. His research interests include ethics, Islam, Political Islam, Religious Extremism, Sufism and Turkish Politics. Sezgin is the Executive Director of the Centre for Hizmet Studies. He regularly writes for Middle East Eye and comments for BBC Newshour, Radio 4 and BBC World.
