Tahir Abbas is a Senior Research Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London. He specialises in ethnic relations, radicalisation and violent extremism. In December 2016, he published a book on ethnicity, Islam and politics in Turkey. He is currently researching and writing two books.

Dr Ismail Sezgin

Ismail Mesut Sezgin holds a Doctorate from the Institute for Spirituality, Religion and Public Life at Leeds Beckett University. His research interests include ethics, Islam, Political Islam, Religious Extremism, Sufism and Turkish Politics. Sezgin is the Executive Director of the Centre for Hizmet Studies.

Dr Bezen Balamir Coskun

Associate professor of international relations

Bezen Balamir Coskun is an associate professor of international relations. She teaches courses on theories of international relations, security studies, Middle East security and Turkish foreign policy. Her main research interests are theories of international relations, security studies and conflict resolution with a geographical emphasise on the Middle East region.

Kamal Alam is a Syrian military analyst and Fellow for Syrian Affairs at The Institute for Statecraft, and has been a visiting lecturer at several military academies and staff colleges in the Middle East, Britain and Pakistan

Dr Mustafa Demir

Mustafa Demir holds a PhD in the School of Politics and International Relations at Keele University. His research interests are: the Middle East and current developments, Turkey’s foreign and security policies, Kurdish question and perception of Kurds and Kurdistan in the Middle East and world politics.

Alpaslan Özerdem is Co-Director of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations, Coventry University, UK. He specialises in the politics of humanitarian interventions, disaster response, conflict prevention, reintegration of former combatants and post-conflict state building. He is also President of Centre for Strategic Research and Analysis (CESRAN), a UK based think-tank.

Dr Bahar Baser

Bahar Baser is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Peace, Trust and Social Relations. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Warwick at the Department of Politics and International Studies between 2012 and 2014. Bahar’s research interests include ethno-national conflicts and political violence, conflict resolution, third party mediation, migration and diaspora studies.
