The Middle East has always been a complicated region to deal with, even for Turkey, which has historical and cultural ties with it. It was never easy for Turkey to fit in or simply ignore the regional developments, but today more than ever, the Middle East is a real challenge for the future of the Turkish state and society. In this panel we wish to discuss the effects of the changing political and social dynamics of the region on Turkish politics and society and Turkey’s responses to those changes.
